The decline stems from a mix of political fatigue and economic discontent. According to CNN, 50% of respondents strongly disapproves of the president, the highest figure in his two terms. His overall approval stands at 34%, the same historic low he recorded at the end of his first administration. This figure places him in a zone of political vulnerability, even with a Republican base that remains active.

The most concerning data for the Republican Party is the loss of enthusiasm. Last spring, 38% of its voters viewed the rest of the term optimistically. Today that figure has dropped to 19%. This suggests that the problem is not just public image. It also indicates fatigue within his own bloc, where stronger discipline was expected following Trump’s return to the presidency in January 2025. Perceptions about his focus on national priorities have also deteriorated. Only 27% believe he is concentrating on the right issues, while 73% disagree.

The war in Iran appears as one of the central factors in the decline. Only 28% of respondents approve of how Trump handled the conflict, a figure well below other evaluated issues. The discontent also touches everyday economics. Just 25% approve of his handling of inflation and 21% support his response to gas prices. These numbers reflect direct concern in Latino households.
