New York will hold several passport fairs during July for those applying for the document for the first time. These U.S. State Department events facilitate the process without an appointment and are also designed for families with minors.

The fairs will take place in New York and New Jersey locations, with extended hours during weekdays and weekends. For many Latinos in the U.S., this is a useful opportunity to start the application process in person and without the delays of a traditional office.

The key point is clear: these fairs are for initial applications and not for routine renewals. Those who already have an expired or expiring passport should check if they qualify to renew it by mail or if they need another option.

What are these fairs?

Acceptance fairs are special events where authorized personnel receive applications outside regular hours. Their objective is to simplify the process and bring it closer to communities that need more flexible service.

In these spaces, staff reviews documents, guides applicants, and confirms that the form is complete. In many cases, no appointment is needed, although some locations may request advance registration.

The form required for a first passport is the DS-11. The State Department reminds that this format is used for adults applying for the first time and for minors under 16 years old.

Where will the fairs be in July?

The first date near New York will be Thursday, July 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at White Plains Hospital in White Plains. The official calendar confirms that no appointment is required.

Next there will be another event on Tuesday, July 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Tice’s Senior Center in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. Also without an appointment, which can help those who work or study during the week.

The schedule continues on Thursday, July 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Village Green in West Harrison. Later, on Saturday, July 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., service will be available at Anthony Veteran Park in Ardsley.

The schedule concludes on Tuesday, July 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Westchester County Clerk’s office in White Plains. It is recommended to verify beforehand if the event is still confirmed, as organizers may adjust hours or requirements.

What documents should you bring?

To avoid delays, the applicant must bring proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate. You also need a current photo ID and a photocopy of both sides of that document.
