Illinois Governor Claims Trump Suffers from Dementia

Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker again accused Donald Trump of suffering from dementia. The statement reignited debate over the president’s mental health and the political use of that issue.

The White House immediately rejected the claim. A spokesperson called Pritzker’s words false and assured that Trump is in good health.

What Did Pritzker Say?

Pritzker stated in an interview with CNN that Trump «continuously suffers from dementia.» He also said the president does not appear to understand what he says in public.

The governor added that Trump threatens to jail mayors and governors. According to his argument, the president launches ideas without thinking them through and uses the Department of Justice as a political tool.

The criticism is not new. Pritzker had previously said he saw signs of cognitive decline in Trump and had called for a review of his public behavior.

How Did the White House Respond?

Davis Ingle, presidential spokesperson, denied the accusation and attacked Pritzker. He called him incompetent and accused him of spreading false narratives to remain relevant. The response sought to cut off discussion on two fronts. First, it defended Trump’s mental capacity. Second, it discredited Pritzker’s political credibility.

Trump also insists his health is good. Following his medical review at Walter Reed, he said the results came out «perfectly.» In May, his physician released a memo stating that the president was in excellent health. The document noted good cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and physical functioning.

Why Did the Issue Resurface?

The case regained traction because Trump is already over 80 years old. His age has turned any gesture, verbal slip, or public reaction into a matter of national debate. Jamie Raskin, representative from Maryland, recently called for reactivating an investigation into Trump’s medical history. He also demanded that the complete list of medications and attending physicians be published.
