ALERT: Trump Threatens to Use Military Force in Latin America

President Donald Trump warned Tuesday before the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) that he is willing to deploy military force in Latin America. This would be for the purpose of safeguarding his country’s strategic interests. The leader stated that Washington will not tolerate threats in the Western Hemisphere. They also cited as a direct precedent the operation to capture Nicolás Maduro executed at the beginning of the year.

What did Trump say about the use of military force in Latin America?

During his speech at the headquarters of the multilateral organization in New York, the U.S. leader emphasized the country’s military supremacy before international leaders. Trump affirmed that the White House will prevent any hostile actor from consolidating influence on continental territory. In his message from the UN podium, the leader delivered a direct warning to the region’s governments:

«The United States will no longer allow threats against the country to take root anywhere on the American continent. And, if necessary, we will use our unparalleled military might to protect the national interests of the United States.»

The leader justified his position by recalling the military incursion on January 3, 2026, in Caracas, through which U.S. troops detained Nicolás Maduro. The former Venezuelan president remains held in a federal prison in New York facing trial on drug trafficking charges.

Trump assured that following that operation, hundreds of political prisoners were released and the stabilization of a new institutional landscape was achieved. Additionally, the leader praised bilateral agreements that grant U.S. companies participation in the commercialization of Venezuelan oil reserves.

How does he plan to combat drug cartels in the region?

The presidential speech placed the fight against illicit drug trafficking as a national security priority. Trump equated transnational criminal organizations with extremist terrorist militias, pointing out that they extort and use armed violence to sow terror. The U.S. president declared before the international assembly:

«They are the Islamic State of the American continent. Like ISIS, they should be eliminated, exiled, or detained as enemy combatants with no possibility of being released, which is what we are doing.»

With that justification, the head of state backed the campaign of airstrikes against speedboats suspected of transporting narcotics in international waters of the Caribbean Sea. Additionally, he accused Mexico of being the epicenter of drug trafficking violence and demanded that Claudia Sheinbaum’s government regain control of its territory along the shared border of more than 3,200 kilometers.

Beyond the inter-American sphere, the presidential intervention covered the combat fronts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Regarding Iran, the leader raised the dilemma of negotiating a pact following the legislative elections in November 2026. Otherwise, he affirmed that the governmental structure of the Islamic Republic would be annihilated.

Trump revealed that U.S. Navy vessels have escorted more than 1 billion barrels of crude through the Strait of Hormuz to guarantee energy supply. Regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine, he estimated that 25,000 combatants die monthly on the battle fronts and promised that the conflict would end rapidly.
