The Liga MX announced the official roster of players who will represent Mexican soccer in the 2026 All-Star Game against stars from the Major League Soccer (MLS). The match will be played on Wednesday July 29 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. It will be just 10 days after the World Cup concludes.
The roster underwent modifications from the initial announcement due to injuries and unavailability of some selected players. In total, 8 replacements were added. On the other hand, the commissioner of the Mexican Football Federation, Mikel Arriola, used his direct selection to include young Elías Montiel from Pachuca.
The team will be managed by Antonio Mohamed, coach of Toluca FC. He was recognized with the 2026 Golden Ball as best coach after winning 5 titles in the last 12 months.
Who leads the Liga MX roster?
The 26-player squad blends international experience, foreign stars, and emerging talent. Among the most notable names is Erik Lira, midfielder for Cruz Azul, who arrives as the fresh winner of the Liga MX Golden Ball and captain of the Clausura 2026 championship team.
Salomón Rondón, the experienced Venezuelan striker, also appears on the final roster as a representative of Pachuca. The roster also includes figures who participated with the Mexican national team in the recent 2026 World Cup, which adds special appeal for Latino fans in the United States.

The team includes players such as Jesús Gallardo (Toluca), Israel Reyes (América) and Carlos Acevedo (Santos Laguna). These footballers provide defensive hierarchy and security in goal. Additionally, Cruz Azul is the club that contributes the most to the official roster, with 5 selected players.
The defense also features Omar Campos and Willer Ditta from Cruz Azul, along with Luis Gabriel Rey from Chivas and Nathan Silva from Pumas. The midfield looks solid with Fernando Gorriarán and Juan Brunetta, both from Tigres. Carlos Rodríguez’s talent is also included.
What players arrive with World Cup experience?
This year’s All-Star Game has the distinction of taking place right after the 2026 World Cup, jointly organized by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. This means several players will arrive in Charlotte with the rhythm of maximum international competition.
Within the Liga MX roster, there are names that were part of the Mexican national team process under Javier Aguirre. Erik Lira, for example, started 4 matches for the “Tri” during the World Cup, establishing himself as a key piece in midfield.
