FIFA received more than 500 million requests during the third phase of ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup. This historic figure means that only 0.35 percent of applicants will manage to obtain tickets for one of the 104 matches. The available supply in this final round is just 1 million 754 thousand tickets, which establishes a ratio of one per every 287 requests.

How Did Demand Grow in Recent Weeks?

Demand growth was exponential since early December. On December 29, FIFA reported 150 million requests, already a surprising figure. However, in less than two weeks, applications tripled, reaching 500 million when the phase closed on January 13. This rapid increase reflects worldwide interest in seeing the tournament that will be held in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

Fans from 212 countries participated in the “random draw” phase, which was open from December 11 to January 13. During this period, each user could request a maximum of 40 tickets, limited to 4 tickets per specific match. This flexibility in requests significantly increased the total number of applications.
