U.S. immigration policy enters a new phase. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that it is conducting operations in all 50 states, with ongoing actions throughout the week. The confirmation was provided by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). According to a spokesperson, agents carry out immigration enforcement duties 24 hours a day. This deployment marks an increase in the intensity of operations. Detentions of undocumented immigrants have expanded across different points of U.S. territory.

Daily Operations and Increase in Detentions

According to the DHS, operations have no pause. Agents act on streets, highways, and offices where immigrants attend appointments with authorities. A recent report indicates that nearly 10,000 arrests were made in just one week. Additionally, a new target of up to 2,000 detentions per day has reportedly been set. Actions include interventions at traffic stops and public spaces. This approach seeks to expand the reach of detentions beyond traditional operations. As of June 24, ICE reported the detention of more than 981,000 undocumented immigrants. Of that total, approximately 948,000 were reportedly deported.

Lack of Detailed Data and Disputed Figures

Despite official figures, there are doubts about transparency. ICE has not published recent detailed reports, as occurred in previous administrations. The DHS also claims that more than three million people voluntarily left the country. However, these figures have not been independently verified. Discrepancies extend to other indicators. For example, the agency claims that the majority of detainees have criminal records. However, organizations such as TRAC present different figures. According to their records, only 30% of detainees would have any criminal case, while the rest have no record.

Key States and Police Cooperation

The scope of operations is explained in part by local agreements. Programs like 287(g) allow cooperation between ICE and state or municipal authorities. These agreements are active in states such as Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Alabama. In these areas, a high number of detentions are concentrated. Florida stands out for having the largest number of active agreements. The 67 sheriffs of its counties are authorized to cooperate with immigration authorities. Reports indicate that the Florida Highway Patrol conducted more than half of immigration arrests in 2025. This demonstrates the weight of local cooperation. However, operations are not limited to those states. Actions have also been recorded in California, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

Criticism Over Social Impact and Rights

Various organizations have questioned the strategy. They note that the increase in detentions affects entire families and communities. Activists warn that many arrests involve people without criminal records. They also denounce the use of racial profiling and surveillance technology. Criticism points to an approach based on detention quotas. According to these allegations, the daily target pressures agents to increase arrests. From the Government, in contrast, the policy is defended. The DHS insists that the priority is enforcing the law and guaranteeing national security. The official message is clear: those who enter without authorization will be detained and deported. This stance reinforces the hard line on immigration matters.

Millionaire Funding to Strengthen Controls

The hardening of immigration policy has financial backing. Congress approved a package of nearly $70 billion for detentions and deportations. Of that total, $38 billion is designated for ICE. The resources seek to expand operational capacity and strengthen cooperation with local authorities. Another $26 billion was allocated to the Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP). The goal is to increase surveillance and personnel at points of entry. Additionally, $5 billion is allocated for immigration policy support. This is added to a new budget debate for 2027, with additional funds under discussion.
